Schedule of Events
Friday, March 18, 2011 – For folks spending the night
If you have not done so already, you may make optional reservations to stay overnight at the Ole’ Inn or the Main Lodge on March 18 and/or March 19. Call 304.258-1022, press 1, and then enter 5209 for Kelly Smith, the park’s naturalist.
If you have a room at the Main Lodge, the check in time will be at 3:00 pm.  If you are staying at the Ole’ Inn, facilitators will not be arriving until about 5 pm.  Ole’ Inn guest will need to check in first at the main lodge then come down to the Ole Inn.
·         No formal evening activities are planned so enjoy your evening on your own.  Dining options include dinner at the Main Lodge, gas station, the town of Berkeley Springs or bring your own food.  Fully equipped kitchen is available at the Ole’ Inn for those staying there.
Saturday, March 19, 2011 – All participants
·         7:15 am – meet and greet fellow naturalists – continental breakfast provided by PVMN
·         8:00 – introduction to Master Naturalist program and facilitators of PVMN
·         8:15 General Ecology, instructors Kathryn Henry and Wanda Miller (4 hours)
·         10:15+/- Break then continued instruction
·         12:30 pm - 1:15 pm – Lunch on own
·         1:15 Names/Classifications/Identification,  instructor Wanda Miller (1 hour)
·         2:15 Soils, instructor Rebecca MacLeod (3 hours)
·         3:45+/- Break then continued instruction
·         5:30 conclusion of instruction – you may leave your binder at your table if you wish
·         Everyone is welcomed to an optional dinner at lodge (Dutch treat)
·         Informal evening possibilities depending on weather – flashlight walk, reading by the fire, movie
Sunday, March 20, 2011 – All participants
·         7:15 am hearty breakfast for overnight guests (provided by PVMN)
·         8:00 Nature Interpretation and Teaching, instructors Kristin Alexander and Jeff Feldman  (4 hours)
·         10:00-10:15+/- Break then continued instruction
·         12:30 pm - 1:00 pm – Working lunch, informational session
·         1:00 Geology, instructor Ed Snyder (4 hours)
·         3:00+/- Break then continued instruction
·         5:15 Conclusion of weekend session
Please note the following –
·         Be sure to check the weather to be prepared for outside activities and indoor chills. In the past four years, this first weekend has varied from the high 30’s and raining to warm and sunny spring like days.
·         The Ole’ Inn has a fully furnished kitchen that you are welcomed to use during the sessions. Coffee, tea, water, and snacks will be provided.  Bring your own mug/cup to save on materials.
·         You may wish to bring related field guides if you have them.  Bring a pen/pencil to write with.
·         We will have a map for folks to figure out car pooling possibilities.
